Opening Day and Buses
Below is the Bus transportation plan for Camp Lakota 2015. It is imperative that each family provide us with the transportation choices for your camper/s. We ask each family to let us know which bus location your camper will be “departing from” and which location they will be “returning to.” You will be provided with a Bus Choice Form which we ask you to mail back to our winter office by June 1st, or simply email it to us at email@example.com with your departure and return choices.
We ask all campers to take our bus service to camp. It is an exciting “rite-of-passage” which also provides the smoothest transition for both campers and parents. When our buses arrive at each departure point, you will be greeted by our counselor “bus team” as well as by our “bus captain.”
Please locate the bus captain and check in your camper/s. Please be sure to give the bus captain any medications that you have brought along for your camper/s.
We provide buses on our opening day and our final day of the summer. For our shorter session campers, we request that you plan on car pickup and drop off during our Switch-Over weekend. So for those campers going home after our first 4 week session, we ask that you depart by family car, and for those campers beginning our final three week session, we ask that you are dropped off by family car.
Below are our bus pickup locations on opening day, specific morning times will be noted on our Bus Choice Form. On our last day of the summer, we will also use these locations as our final bus drop off points.
- Long Island – Macy’s Manhasset – Parking Lot -1100 Northern Blvd, Manhasset, NY – (Macy’s borders Community Drive as well)
- Central New Jersey – JCPenney Parking Lot – Woodbridge Center Mall, Routes 1and 9, Woodbridge, NJ (Parking lot is next to Route 9 Marquee across from JCPenney)
- Northern New Jersey – Montvale NJ “Park & Ride” at Garden State Parkway Rest stop, Montvale, NJ (4 Miles North of Exit 165)
- Westchester – Office Complex Parking Lot at 555 White Plains Road, Tarrytown, NY
What happens at the bus stop?
Please plan on arriving at least 30 minutes early to the bus departure location you have chosen.
Each bus will be staffed by a bus captain and a staff of Lakota counselors.
When the buses arrive please check in with the bus captain.
If you have brought any medication that requires refrigeration, please bring this directly to the bus captain. Other, non-refrigerated items which need to be stored in the infirmary should be turned in to the bus captain as well. Please be sure all medication is sealed in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name.
Please listen carefully to the announcements made by the camp’s administrative staff . Your cooperation at the bus stop will go a long way in ensuring a smooth departure.
