Meet Our Directors

"Staff is the key ingredient to any great summer..."

Director - Carol Hager

Carol Hager and her family have been at camp for over 40 years. A retired teacher, Carol has been a counselor, group leader, head counselor, and now serves as one of our Directors. "I started at Camp Lakota as a 6 year old child on July 1, 1949 and the rest is history. My passion for camp was strong from day one. My parents brought my brother and me to camp. They both worked at camp and my brother and me became 2nd generation Lakota family."
"I chose my career in education because of my love for children and camp life. I have been a camper, counselor, group leader, assistant head counselor and head counselor of boys and girls camp and finally after retiring from 30 years in education I became Director of Camp Lakota. I am happy to say that my husband Phil and my children share my passion. Today my grandchildren are 4th generation Lakota family."

Director - Michael Childs

We are excited to announce a new year-round addition to the Camp Lakota team. Michael Childs will be joining the staff of Camp Lakota. Michael was a long time camper, counselor, group leader, and served as Lakota's Boys' Head Counselor for two years in the 90's.

Michael rejoins the Lakota family as a co-Director and will help in a variety of areas on campus. Michael, Vickie and their four children can't wait for Lakota 2013.

“My first year was 1979, I was 8 years old and off I went to Lakota. Lakota has been in my blood ever since. After spending 20 plus years at Lakota, I went into the corporate world, still knowing Lakota and camping was always my number one passion. Words can’t adequately describe how excited I am to be back at Lakota”

Michael is a graduate of the University of Arizona and currently lives in Boca Raton, Florida with his wife Vickie and 4 children, Adam, Carlie, Katie and Kevin, all of whom spend their summers at Lakota.

Michael introduced Camp Lakota to his family in 2009. "The kids are great campers and have great passion for camp."

Michael’s knowledge, enthusiasm and love for camp will become part of every campers experience at Lakota.

“I have always said, camp friends are your best friends, and this still holds true today"
