Sandra Street - "Under-Cover Teacher"
We introduced the Lakota Challenge in 2012. As many of you know, the
Lakota Challenge is run by Sandra Street who is our “Under-Cover Teacher”
(but shhh, don’t tell the campers). Sandra and the Lakota Challenge were
the newest hit at Lakota.
The Lakota Challenge is both a scheduled activity and an elective
activity. Sandra captivated all our campers, no matter what their age,
with fun and stimulating activities that challenged the mind as well as
the body. Sandra is a New York City Public School teacher with her BA from
Tufts and her Masters in Childhood Education from LIU. She comes to Lakota
with her two boys, AJ and Charles (the best dancer in the Catskills).
So what does Sandra do? Sandra’s activities include zany brain games like
Blindfold Geography, Bet You Know History, Nature Scavenger Hunts, Public
Speaking 101, Math Snatch the Bacon, English as a First Language,
Breakfast Trivia and so many other fun games. Sandra’s goal is to help
stem the “summer learning loss” by keeping every camper’s brain running at
full speed.
