We are situated on 200 of the most beautiful acres of land. Our magnificent Masten Lake with its sandy beaches and diverse waterfront sports has helped make Lakota a family tradition for 90 years. Founded in 1924, and built on the grounds of an historic Sullivan County Estate and Hotel, Camp Lakota has been under continuous family ownership since its beginnings. Indeed, Camp Lakota has always been about family, and has been providing nurturing, safe, and exciting summers for co-ed campers for over 90 years. Since purchasing the camp in 1985, The Mindich Family, our dedicated owners, have had the privilege of caring for your children for over three decades, and continue to promote traditional values in summer camping.

Upstate NY Camp

Our campus radiates out from the original estate mansion that was built in the early 1900’s. We now use this building as our Arts & Crafts center. Since 1924, Camp Lakota has provided a nurturing and supportive environment for all our campers. Each Lakota camper is a unique individual. Lakota’s dedicated and outstanding staff, dynamic programs, beautiful grounds and lake delivers a most memorable summer camp experience!

Lakota’s seasoned staff knows the importance of communication with our campers and their families. We stay connected via off-season calls, pre-camp tours, meetings, emails, and Lakota’s annual Pre-Union for new campers. Lakota runs a fantastic nature and outdoor adventure program. Our gorgeous wooded surroundings offer endless trails which continue to be used for hiking, camping, horseback riding, camp-outs and nature explorations. Masten Lake, the heartbeat of camp, has always boasted great waterskiing, sailing, canoeing, rowing, and swimming.

As Lakota has grown over the years, so has its wonderful facility, which now features athletic fields, courts, and sports venues for every athlete, as well as studios and performance spaces for the creative arts.
